What is K12Buddy?
K12Buddy is an AI-powered tutor for K–12 students, with accounts created and held by parents and teachers. It explains schoolwork step by step, scans homework from a photo, and gives the adults full visibility through a parent dashboard.
Is K12Buddy safe for my child?
Yes. Accounts are created by parents or teachers with COPPA-compliant consent and an age gate, both what students type and what the AI answers pass through content moderation tuned for K–12, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Is the tutoring done by people or by AI?
By AI — K12Buddy is an AI tutor, and we're upfront about that. There are no human tutors on the platform. Parents can review every conversation in the dashboard.
What subjects and grades are covered?
Six core subjects — math, science, English, history, computer science, and foreign languages — with explanations adapted to every grade from kindergarten through 12th.
How much does it cost?
The K12Buddy mobile app is free during launch, and web access is included — no card required, and no ads. If pricing ever changes, account holders will be told clearly and in advance.
How does parental consent work?
A parent or teacher creates and holds the account and gives consent before a child uses the tutor. You can review activity, adjust access, export your family's data, or delete the account at any time.
How does homework scanning work?
Take a photo of the worksheet in the app. K12Buddy reads the problem and the tutor walks through the working step by step — the method, not just the result.
Will it just give my child the answers?
K12Buddy is built for understanding: it walks through problems step by step and rewards practice with XP, streaks, and badges. And because every conversation is visible in your parent dashboard, nothing is a black box.
Does it work without an internet connection?
The app is built offline-first: your child can keep reading and working in their chat history offline, and conversations sync when the connection returns.
What happens to my family's data?
It stays yours. We don't sell personal data. We handle student data in line with COPPA and support schools in meeting their FERPA obligations, and parents can export or delete it whenever they choose. The full details are in our privacy policy.
